Greater Purpose / Giving Back
At So Cal Design Build, Inc., we believe every individual and business has a greater purpose. While we are a home remodeling company, our mission extends beyond renovations. We donate a portion of our profits from every project to support families in need and charitable organizations. We are committed to making a positive impact in our community, reflecting our values in every aspect of our work. As it is said, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26).
NICARAGUA MISSIONS TRIP 2017
Last spring, we had the privilege of visiting Nicaragua, the second poorest country in Latin America, with nearly 6 million residents. The education system is severely lacking, leaving many children without access to schooling. During our visit, we supported the Potter’s House Foundation, which provides essential educational services and music skills to children and teenagers. Our partnership aimed to empower these young individuals, fostering their growth and development through learning opportunities. We are grateful for the chance to contribute to such an important cause and help create a brighter future for Nicaragua’s youth.
During our trip to Nicaragua, we visited a local landfill, and what we witnessed was truly life-changing. Dozens of families—mainly women and children—were living within the landfill itself, struggling to survive by sifting through heaps of trash. They scavenged daily, hoping to find items they could sell for just a few cents. Seeing this firsthand was a stark reminder of the extreme poverty faced by so many. Moved by their resilience and determination, we delivered food, water, and an encouraging message of hope to those we met. Though our contributions were small in the face of such need, we were humbled to offer some relief and share a moment of kindness. This experience profoundly impacted us, reinforcing our commitment to helping communities in dire circumstances and spreading compassion wherever we go. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring a bit of light and encouragement to these incredible families
Hands Across Borders
So Cal Design Build, Inc. is honored to support Hands Across Borders, a dedicated organization working to uplift communities in Sonora, Mexico. Our team has actively contributed by delivering tens of thousands of Bibles, scriptures, and tracts to help spread hope and faith. Beyond this, we’ve supplied educational materials, backpacks, and other essential items to empower local children and their families. Additionally, we’ve provided logistical support to our missionary partners, ensuring that resources are distributed effectively to those who need them most. Working alongside Hands Across Borders allows us to be part of meaningful change, supporting both spiritual and educational growth in the region. We believe that our efforts help create a brighter future for these communities and reinforce our commitment to humanitarian work. This partnership reflects our core values of giving back and serving others, both locally and abroad, and we’re proud to continue supporting this vital mission.
CORONA VIRUS RESPONSE 2020
Throughout these challenging times, our SoCal team has gone above and beyond to support the community in meaningful ways. When blood donations were urgently needed, our team members were quick to step forward and donate. During the critical shortage of N95 masks, we donated all the available masks we had to protect frontline workers and healthcare professionals. We also organized efforts to deliver food and essential supplies directly to elderly community members who were unable to leave their homes safely. Beyond that, we supported local charities by donating food and other necessary items to help families struggling to make ends meet. We’re proud to contribute whenever and wherever we can, because we believe in doing our part to uplift and care for our neighbors. Whether it’s through small acts of kindness or larger charitable efforts, we remain dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of those around us.
TIJUANA ORPHANAGE SUPPORT 2018-Current
So Cal Design Build, Inc. is proud to support a local orphanage on the southern border of San Diego in Tijuana, which is home to dozens of children, ranging from newborns to teenagers. During Christmas of 2018, we had the privilege of spreading holiday cheer by gifting each child a large personalized stocking filled with goodies and essential items such as musical instruments, shoes, clothing, and more. Each stocking was customized with the child’s name, making the experience even more special. To ensure we were meeting their needs and desires, each child shared a wish list of items they hoped for, and we did our best to fulfill as many of their wishes as possible. This initiative allowed us to connect directly with these incredible kids, bringing smiles and joy during the holiday season. Supporting the orphanage has been a deeply rewarding experience and aligns with our commitment to making a positive impact.
Homeless Food Drive 2021-2022
In 2021, the SoCal Team launched a grassroots initiative to support the homeless community by going door-to-door and encouraging neighbors to donate canned food and clothing. The response was truly inspiring, with generous contributions pouring in from every corner of the community. We collected an impressive amount of donations, and our team took an active role in sorting and distributing these items to those who needed them most. Through this initiative, we not only provided essential support to the homeless but also built stronger relationships within our neighborhood, reinforcing our shared values of compassion and generosity. The experience deepened our commitment to giving back and proved that when communities unite for a common cause, incredible things can happen. This effort was more than just a collection drive; it was a testament to the power of community action and our dedication to making a meaningful impact for those in need.
